New Airport In Tulum, Mexico Opening Soon – Mayan Ruins

A new airport will open in Tulum, Mexico on December 1, 2023.  Tulum is located on the Riviera Maya, approximately 90 miles south of Cancun, and is known for its beaches and Mayan ruins.  This is exciting news for those wanting to spend more time in that area and not have to travel from and to Cancun for flights.

American Airlines will begin flying to the new airport in Tulum, Mexico, on March 28, offering three routes. The carrier will fly twice daily from its Dallas/Fort Worth home base and daily from its hubs in Charlotte and Miami. Tickets went on sale November 13, 2023.

American is the third U.S. carrier to announce that it will begin operations to Tulum in late March. Spirit plans to fly there daily from Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, and Delta will service Tulum from Atlanta.

Tulum service will be part of a beefed-up schedule for American to the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America next summer. The airline will also increase frequencies on 11 total routes to the region from Miami, Charlotte and Dallas, beginning June 5.
