Ecuador is an extraordinary all-around destination. Travelers often consider The Galápagos Islands which are an archipelago of volcanic islands in the Eastern Pacific, located around the Equator over 560 miles west of South America. They form the Galápagos Province of the Republic of Ecuador. So they are a part of Ecuador but there is much more to Ecuador than The Galapagos.
The mainland shouldn’t be ignored. Sitting at 9,350 feet, Quito is such a gem of a city to explore. Visitors should spend a few days to take in its treasures and acclimate, before heading for an escape to one of several, lovely highland haciendas. Full of history, many of these historic working farms have been around since the 17th century. Horseback riding, cheesemaking, and shopping for local handmade crafts at Otavalo Market are just some activities that can be enjoyed in this idyllic Andean mountain paradise. There is so much to offer with nature and culture.
People do not realize that the western part of Ecuador is covered a lot by Amazon rainforest. There is so much wildlife that people can experience there, as well. Other cities like Guayaquil and Cuenca are filled with incredible food, wine, and culture. Ecuador has some amazing chocolate that they produce along with many dishes – also ceviche and encebollado (a fish stew from Ecuador, regarded as a national dish). Ecuador has recently started hot air balloon rides over some amazing lakes – not to mention seeing volcanoes, hot springs, and the Andes.
Are you looking for an incredible adventure? Ecuador is the perfect destination for your next vacation! With its lush Amazon River, hot springs, and volcanoes, you’ll be able to explore the country’s unique natural beauty. Quito, the capital, is a vibrant city with plenty of sights and activities to experience. Head to Tena for a taste of the local culture, and don’t miss Cotopaxi National Park, where you can hike around a towering volcano. Ecuador is sure to leave you with memories that will last a lifetime!
